Over 30 young professionals braved the storm Tuesday night, March 1, for the 2018 YP Kickoff. The Young Professionals of Lenoir County saw some new faces at The Exchange at Hometowne despite an earlier tornado watch and lingering heavy rain. Dressed in mainly rain coats, young professionals ages 21-39 shook hands, laughed and smiled as they got to know each and everyone in the room. Sherwin Williams Paint sales rep Stephen Griffin and his wife Jessica Griffin were some of the new faces who networked with current members while having great conversation, eating pizza, drinking craft beer and listening to music. Social House Vodka co-owner G Patel entered the Exchange to get out of the rain and visit other young professionals, and Justin Howard with Alsco made some new friends during the night. “What fun! Thank you to everyone who braved the rain,” YP Chair Kristy Harrell said. “It was such a pleasure to meet all of the new faces!” Some regular faces showed up as well. Amy Perry with Dunn & Dalton Architects spoke to other current members such as Jeremy Jones – who won the $130 raffle provided by Chef & the Farmer – his wife Carmon Jones, Mayor Don Hardy and Nathan Perry. “I look forward to a great 2018!” Harrell said. She said the event wouldn’t have been possible without the young professionals who attended kickoff and the 2018 YP steering committee who helped plan it. “I would like to give a special thanks to the YP steering committee members – Jon Clemmons, Cameron Beaman, Sallie Shepherd, Lindsey Drew, Seraphim Smith, Brandon Davis and Erin Passailaigue – for helping me organize this event,” Harrell said. “And congratulations to Jeremy Jones for winning the raffle. Enjoy!”
And it definitely couldn’t have happened without some of the local businesses!
The Young Professionals of Lenoir County would like to thank The Exchange at Hometowne for allowing new and current YPs to have a place for networking. Thank you to Chef & the Farmer for the raffle and to Mother Earth Brewery, Sugar Hill Pizzeria and Hampton Inn of Kinston for being event sponsors. Once again, the YPs would like to give a special thanks to the new faces and current members for making the 2018 YP Kickoff a great one. This is going to be a year to remember!
