Kristin Cooper, the First Lady of North Carolina, will be the featured speaker at the second annual Lenoir County Education Foundation Mini-Grant Luncheon to be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Olivia’s in downtown Kinston.
Proceeds from the luncheon benefit the Foundation’s mini-grant program, which each year awards thousands of dollars to Lenoir County teachers to fund their creative proposals for engaging students. Since North Carolina’s governor, Roy Cooper, took office, Mrs. Cooper has used her platform to improve the well-being of children in the state and has made literacy an important element of her advocacy.
The luncheon begins at noon. Olivia’s is at 110 E. Caswell St. Cost of the luncheon is $35 per person. Click here to register or call the Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce at 252-527-1131.
