Lenoir County got STEM-ed
On Thursday, July 8th, Lenoir County received $50,000 to design a plan to implement STEM education in local classrooms. STEM (Science, Technology and Math) is a special curriculum that combines hands-on experiential learning with a theoretical base of knowledge. Program advocates believe that the specialized training will well position children to complete for jobs in the technology industry. North Carolina is one of only six states to have the program, and Lenoir County is one of only three areas in the state to be selected to implement the program.
Mother Earth Brewing is Growing
Mother Earth Brewing recently reported the expansion of its facility to keep up with increasing demand across the state. Â Soon the brewery will have tripled its capacity, signaling the rapid growth and ongoing success of the company.
Volunteer Fire Department holds Monster Truck & Tractor Race fundraiser
The Lenoir County Fireman Association fire department will hold a fundraising truck and tractor race at the county fairgrounds. Â Events will be held Friday, July 9th and Saturday July 10th. Â Approximately 30 participants from across the southeast are expected to compete for the title of Kinston 300 National Truck and Tractor Pull champion. Proceeds will benefit the organization.
